Kaaterskill Falls | The Catskills | New York
Kaaterskill Falls is the highest cascading waterfall in New York State, dropping over 260 feet! There are several trail systems that you can take from the parking lot, but heading down to the lower falls will give you some of the most beautiful views of the waterfalls. Be prepared with a good pair of hiking boots - you’re going to hike close to a mile, down a bunch of (very steep) steps, to get the gorgeous views. The parking lot is pretty big and we didn’t have any trouble finding a spot even though this is a very popular destination!
Minnewaska State Park | Hudson Valley | New York
Minnewaska is a beautiful state park with scenic views of the Catskills Mountains. One of the highlights is Lake Minnewaska, which is a super easy walk from the huge parking lot. It’s only a $10 fee to enter the park and the visitor center is really nice. The park has an extensive trail system and there is no shortage of beautiful places to stop and shoot. There is also a super awesome waterfall that you can grab some great shots with.
Tallman Mountain State Park | Hudson River | New York
Tallman is a beautiful wooded park with views over the Hudson River. It is part of the Palisades Park System and is well maintained with very easy access. No hiking boots are needed! Golden hour is really beautiful here with the light shining through the trees. Another big bonus is that it is just south of Piermont. You can drive down to the pier and grab some great shots right on the water of the Hudson.
