Lake Minnewaska Engagement Session | Brittany + Alex
Lake Minnewaska State Park
This is by far one of our favorite locations to bring our couples (especially our Jersey couples who don’t often make it up to the Hudson Valley). Brittany and Alex were thrilled to join us at Minnewaska for their engagement session photos and the end results were stunning! They brought two outfits for a couple of different looks and the black-on-black was such a moody vibe out in nature.
What to expect at Minnewaska
There are so many great reasons to use Lake Minnewaska State Park as your engagement session location and they don’t stop at incredible views. It is only $10 per vehicle to enter the park and you are able to drive all the way up to the highest elevation of the park to reach the Visitor Center. Bonus: The Visitor Center is extremely well maintained and has super clean restrooms that are open until the park closes (great for outfit changes!).
There are two main attractions at the park - Lake Minnewaska and Awosting Falls. The majority of photos that you’ll find of Minnewaska State Park are going to highlight these two features. You’ll pass Awosting Falls on your drive up to the Visitor Center, so if you’re planning on making that part of your session - you’ll want to decide if this is the first or last stop. The cliffside views of Lake Minnewaska or only a short walk from the Visitor Center, making for such a popular photo destination. We have gone there several times to shoot and have been lucky every time with a relatively empty park at golden hour. There are great views from both sides of the lake, so don’t hesitate to hike around a bit to find little pockets of great scenery.

Britt + Alex’s Engagement Session
These two are a photographer’s dream! They were so sweet with each other, you can feel it in their photos. They wanted to capture the beauty of the Hudson Valley with a twist of moody-ness and deeper tones. I think we accomplished the mission! We can’t wait to capture their wedding later this year. Check ‘em out below.
